Passed peacefully away, at the Agnes Pratt Home, St. John’s, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024; May Verna Adey at the age of 82. May is predeceased by her parents Eli and Fanny Jenkins, her husband Wilson, daughters Catherine Rose, great-grand daughter Autumn, her brother Stanley, and sisters Bessie, Ettie and Dulcie. May leaves to mourn, her children Colin (Joan), Cindy, Doreen, Terry (Debbie), and Wilson (Peggy); grandchildren Cory, Travis, Brandon, TJ, Ben, Molly, Kyle and Makenna; step grand children Dylan and Dallis, great-grand children Addison, Hudson, Kassidy and Kenna;step great grandson Axell, her brothers Leo and Lloyd, sisters Daisy, Cora, Edith and Marjorie. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. May was a beautiful person inside and out. She was born in Summerford in 1941 and at the age of 15, moved to Twillingate to work as a maid for the Ashbourne family. After a few years she joined the Housekeeping Staff at the Twillingate Hospital. While living in Twillingate she met Wilson Adey and they were married in 1961. Anyone who knew May loved her. She was so kind-hearted and compassionate to everyone she met. If anyone dropped by for a visit, she would put the kettle on and set the table. Everyone was welcome with a smile. May loved to dance and sing, she loved to joke and have fun! May gave her heart to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ many years ago. May prayed for her children and loved to pick a “promise” for them from her Promise Box. In the last few years May suffered from Dementia, which eventually took her life but she fought valiantly until she couldn’t fight anymore. May will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Special thanks to her neighbour of 63 years, Doris Smith. Thank you to Joy Jacobs for helping her to drink and eat during the last few days of her life. Thank you to Agnes Pratt Home for their kindness and care while she was a resident there. Special thanks to Andrea Coady for one final trip possible to Mays home for her in October and helping with her care. “Rest in Peace May, Fly with the Angels” A Celebration of May’s life (Potluck) will be held at Terry and Debbie’s home in Crow Head, 7 Water St. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 7 to 9pm.
